Here are some easy things that will always help you to remember "Greater Than & Less Than":

< - means less than; the symbol sort of resembles an "L" standing for "LESS" than
> - means greater than; the symbol would be a backward "L" so this one stands for greater than

Also - whichever symbol is used or needed, the tip of the point will -- always, always, always -- point toward the smaller number (no matter what!).
Then you can read the statement using the rules from above.
______________________________________

Examples:

1 < 5 One is LESS than five. (Looks like an "L"; so LESS than)
5 < 10 Five is LESS than ten. (Looks like an "L"; so LESS than)

5 > 1 Five is GREATER than one. (This way is GREATER than)
10 > 5 Ten is GREATER than five. (This way is GREATER than)

*** Notice that the point of the symbol is always pointing toward the smaller number. ***

Now why couldn't someone explain this to me 25 years ago?

Elijah had the opportunity to participate in the 30 Hour Famine a couple weeks ago where they raise money to feed the worlds hungry and they also volunteer. They went to "Feed my Starving Children" and went door to door collecting food donations. Elijah also raised $110. That is enough to feed almost 4 people for a month.

"Almighty God, Father of mercies and giver of all comfort: Deal graciously, we pray, with all those who mourn, that casting every care on you we may know the consolation of your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May their souls and the souls of the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen."
